THE SMILE
You were smiling always..the sweet little smile…
That showed the grace…of your beautiful face..
Which was praised by people from every place.
At first I thought your smile was fake..
The forced smile one wears for a commercial retake…
Or a cold handshake..to hide the weeds beneath a crystal lake.
To comfort you I tried to ignore..
And help you to take off the smiling mask you wore..
For someone you abhor..and make your sour feelings sore..
Hoping for change..I glanced once more..
And you kept on smiling at the abhorred ..as before..
A child like smile..and yet so mature.
The little ripples on the lake moved free..
And from it’s damping reflections I began to see..
An evergreen tree…as I saw the crystal lake before me
I seemed to break free from a long exile
After I saw you with your genuine smile..just for a while!
In a world of people all set to beguile.
A smile of happiness came to me…
And from the light of your smile I came to see…
A special glee…the radiant hue of an evergreen tree!
